Caravan Magazine Review

Overview:
Number of pages - 124, of which 38 are full page adverts.

Features and Content

Neatly divided into six broad sections which are attractively colour coded. Unfortunately the colours in the Contents section do not correspond to the individual presentation of each section, resulting in a visually confusing reference system.
Holidays: Several interesting, well written and illustrated travel articles, featuring historical venues in Warwickshire, Gorge Walking in East Wales and overseas adventures in Brittany. Plenty to whet the appetite in each article, especially the 'off beat' gorge walking which is certainly inspiring (curiously though, the venue is not specifically mentioned, but appears to be near Abergavenny! You'll find the contents feature entitled 'Caravan' heads West ... This of course depends on your geographical location, as this is East Wales!) 8/10.

Dog Friendly Campsite in South Devon

One of our dogs - Maisie

Moor View Touring Park is a dog friendly campsite. Liz and I have two dogs of our own and find the area that we live in is just great for walking holidays, and if you have a dog - great for walking your dog also!

The problem with dogs is that not everyone likes them. However we have often found that we don't have problem dogs, but problem owners..... who don't manage their dogs correctly!! It is rather like children on caravan parks or campsites, it isn't the children who are the problem, it is the parents who don't teach or take care of their children correctly. We became an adult only caravan park for the simple reason that for us it made sense. We are close to two large club sites (Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club) and we had to offer something different, hence all our pitches are fully serviced, and we decided to 'go adults only'. We offer an alternative to the Club Sites (both of which are excellent sites I should add). Being an independant park means that we have to look to provide 'something different', or even dare I say, for some people better. One example of this is letting guests choose their pitch and make their touring park booking online.

Now and again we are asked if we would also consider not accepting dogs. But our answer to that is no. We believe we manage the park well, and if from time to time we do get a problem dog owner - we tell them, its as simple as that. Because of this, we get very few problems. The other very practical aspect to this is that many caravanners want a dog friendly caravan park where dogs are welcome. For many people this is why they caravan (or motorhome), because they can take their pets with them knowing that their pets are welcome. We are a pet friendly caravan park situated in rural South Devon, and for us being a dog friendly campsite makes good commercial sense, rather like the decision to become and an adult only touring park.

Please take a look at our website page 'dog friendly campsite' where you will find useful information. Also our beaches page, as this includes information on the local South Devon beaches and those that are dog friendly beaches.

Caravan Bookings 2010 online booking

We are really please with our new online booking system have a look here: Bookings and Availability - Moor View - Adults Only Caravan Touring Park

Caravans, motor homes and tents (camping) can all book online. As a park Exclusively for Adults (Adults Only Touring), this is a first for us, our old booking system was great but guests couldn't book online. This made life a little difficult, as guests had to wait to speak with us. Now they can book whenever they want, they can even choose their pitch and see the caravan site facilities.
Hopefully this new system will prove to be popular - tell us what you think? Is it easy to understand, easy to use, what could be do to make it better?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Snow at Moor View

Being open all year we see the best and the worst of weather, in fact Salcombe a few miles from us gets the mildest mainland climate in the UK. But living in South Devon we normally miss the really cold snowy weather - but not this year!! Fortunately it doesn't appear to be anywhere near like the heavy snow that the rest of the country has had, in fact it looks rather nice....

Being a caravan park in Devon we get caravans and motor homes with us throughout the year. Lots of people came down for Christmas and New Year, before the snow arrived. It wasn't until the majority of guests left that the snow fell. As we have centrally heated facilities on ourDevon Caravan Site for Adults Only, guests still seem to be happy. We have great restaurants and good pubs in our area of South Devon within two minutes is also a brilliant Spar Shop, so even if the weather had been really bad, food and drink are still be on hand!! We are also close to the old market town of Modbury which has some excellent individual shops, including a baker, butcher and delicatessen.
We even have our first daffodil out - roll on Spring:
